| 2006 MATCH REPORTS |
04/06/06 Ballarat Academy V's Eltham North A sensational start for the undefeated U14 girls. Ballarat were unmovable in defense, with Morgan, Katherine and Tracey sending the ball forward without too much fuss. Lizzie was again showing the reason why she is so dependable in many positions. As the key defender, she knew exaclty where to be at all times. The midfields including Catey, Kaylah and Amelia were instrumental in edging the ball toward goal. Within minutes the first goal of the match was placed beautifully by Jackie. With a continuation of enthusiasm, Ballarat found their pace again and at approx 20th minute, Jackie again fiinshed the play with a 2nd goal The girls were elated. A few more missed opportunities frustrated the girls as the end came to the first half. The second half saw a change in lineup, giving the girls more striking opportunities. Rebecca was showing her new talents off as she found the meaning of second effort. Sammy went in for the ball and often won the challenge. The third goal of the match was off of the boot of Emma and Ballarat were confident of a victory. Erin was able to outrun her opposition and send the ball forward again. Harriet held the opposition back as she fought to gain possession. However Eltham fought back strongly and were able to gain their first goal. Althought the keeper held the ball firmly, it went just over the line. An altercation in the box saw Eltham awarded a penalty and this resulted in their 2nd goal. Ballarat were forced to regroup and were very effective in defence, keeping the score to 3:2 at the end of the 2nd half. ************************************************************************* 11/06/06 BALLARAT ACADEMY OF SOCCER V'S BRUNSWICK CITY TODAYS GAME WAS ALWAYS GOING TO BE HARD TO CALL. BRUNSWICK CITY HAD STARTED THE YEAR WITH SOME LARGE LOSSES BUT HAD APPEARED TO STRENGTHEN AND REDUCE THE SIZE OF THOSE LOSSES AS THE WEEKS HAVE PASSED. EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE BOTTOM OF THE LADDER WE DECIDED TO TAKE NO CHANCES AND TRACEY WAS PLACED IN THE GOAL. THE GIRLS WERE SLOW TO PUT THEIR GAME PLAN INTO ACTION AND THE ADRENALIN DEFINATELY WAS NOT PUMPING FOR ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES IN THE FIRST HALF. THE GIRLS PEPPERED AWAY BUT TRACEY WAS STILL KEPT A LITTLE BUSY AND ON GUARD AS BRUNSWICK WERE ABLE TO BREAK DOWN OUR MIDFIELD AND A LITTLE OF THE DEFENCE. IT SEEMED THAT NO MATTER HOW CLOSE THE GIRLS WERE TO THE GOAL, NO WAY WAS IT GOING TO GO IN THE BACK OF THE NET. BRUNSWICKS KEEPER CERTAINLY WORKED HARD BUT EFFICIENTLY. HOWEVER AS THE FIRST HALF WAS COMING TO AN END THE GIRLS STARTED TO GET IT TOGETHER WITH SOME REASONABLE TEAM WORK AND FINALLY SOME TACTICS COMING INTO THEIR GAME. JACKIE WAS FINALLY ABLE TO FINISH A TEAM PLAY AND SCORE THE FIRST GOAL OF THE GAME. THE GIRLS HAD NEEDED JUST THIS TO BOOST THEIR SELF ESTEEM. AS WE ENTERED THE SECOND HALF TRACEY WAS KEPT IN GOAL FOR SOME STABILITY. EMMA WAS WITHOUT DOUBT DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT WHEN SHE DID GET POSSESSION AND LIZZIE, MORGAN AND SAM HELD THE OPPOSSITION OFF AS THEY DEFENDED REALLY WELL. A DECISION WAS MADE TO GIVE TRACEY A RUN AND YOUNG KAYLAH OUR UNDER 11 WAS GIVEN THE NUMBER 1 JERSEY FOR THE REST OF THE GAME. THE FORWARDS OF JACKIE, EMMA, THE MIDFIELDS ERIN, CATEY, AMELIA, KATHERINE, REBECCA, SAMMY AND HARRIET WERE ABLE TO DO SUCH A GREAT JOB THAT KAYLAH DID NOT ONCE EVEN HAVE TO CONSIDER TOUCHING THE BALL. HOWEVER POOR KAYLAH WAS A BIT COLD DUE TO LACK OF MOVEMENT. AS THE TEAM STARTED TO ATTACK MORE CONSISTENTLY, ERIN WAS ABLE TO SEND IN OUR SECOND GOAL TO CLINCH THE MATCH. ALTHOUGH BRUNSWICK CITY HAD CERTAINLY GIVEN US MUCH TO THINK ABOUT IN THE FIRST HALF, THE BALLARAT GIRLS WERE ABLE TO RE-GROUP AND DOMINATE THE MATCH. A WELL DESERVED WIN 2:0 ************************************************************************************** 18/06/2006 Ballarat V's Brunswick City Brunswick Zebras came to Ballarat undefeated. They had played everybody esle but not Ballarats girls. It was an intense game with both sides not willing to give in. The end result was 2:1 in Ballarats favour. ************************************************************************************ ~~~~~~~~~~Week off for Regionals~~~~~~~~ |
