07/05/2006 GISBORNE v BALLARAT ACADEMY
(WE WERE THIS WEEK MOVED FROM THE U15 AGE GROUP AND PLACED IN THE U14 AGE GROUP. THIS HAS BEEN GREAT FOR OUR YOUNG GIRLS)
************************************************************
BALLARAT STARTED SLOW AGAINST GISBORNE, BUT FOUND THE NET IN THE 12TH MINUTE WHEN HARRIET RECEIVED A CROSS FROM CATEY AND SENT IT IN FOR THE FIRST GOAL OF THE MATCH.
AT THE 20TH MINUTE A CLEVER PASSBACK FROM HARRIET RESULTED IN A LOVELY GOAL FOR CATEY. WITH NO SUBS THIS WEEK, THE TEAM WELCOMED HALF-TIME FOR A REST. THE 2ND HALF SAW A CHANGE IN POSITIONS AND GAME PLAY, THE MAIN FOCUS ON TEAM WORK. THIS RESULTED IN A VERY NICE THIRD GOAL FOR THE TEAM  BY AMELIA. FOLLOWED CLOSELY BY A GREAT GOAL FROM EMMA. A PENALTY TAKEN BY EMMA RESULTED IN GOAL NUMBER 5 FOR BALLARAT.
5:0 FINAL SCORE
A GREAT RESULT FOR THE GIRLS NOW FINALLY IN THEIR CORRECT AGE GROUP.

14/05/2006 BALLARAT ACADEMY v KEILOR PARK
An exciting match for all spectators when Keilor Park came to Ballarat. The Academy girls came out well and definately held the majority of gameplay. However they were unable to finish on most accounts which frustrated them. The half time score was 0:0. The rain came down to spice things up a bit and even when opportunities were no more than a metre from the oppositions goal, the mud took over and the girls found it slippery work. Keilor park took possession of the ball and were able to take it into our half. A lot of confusion resulted in the box when too many Ballarat girls were trying to defend and Tracey was unable to see the ball. The result was the first goal of the match going to Keilor Park.  The game continued with Ballarat having majority possession but unable to find the net. Knowing there was only a few minutes to go, the girls mustered up strength and courage from who knows where and a great pass from Lizzie resulted in a well placed equalising goal from Catey. The Ballarat crowd and the girls were elated as the game became a tie. The whistle blew shortly afterwards and it was a 1:1 draw worth cheering about. The girls felt that a mud fight or slide on the grass (mud) was in order to celebrate.

Ballarat Academy v's Epping City
Today we had nearly a full team. Harriet was unable to join us but Jackie was welcomed back to the Academy girls this year.
Another exciting game with Ballarat holding the majority of gameplay. Again the issue was finishing the job. Tracey was in goal the first half and apart from a few good saves was kept pretty quiet byt he Epping attack. Ballarats defence line up worked really well and kept the ball in our half for the majority of the game.  The mid field were also battling well and keeping the ball where it should be. However we were just finding the finishing really tough with dozens of goal opportunities being tapped at Eppings keeper.  Finally in the 20th minute Catey scored the first goal of the game. All was going really well until about 26th minute when a fabulous long ball from Epping resulted in a high goal in the net just out of the reach of Tracey's hands. Half time score 1:1 In the next half we were able to let Tracey out of goal for some well deserved field time. Jackie took the goal keeping job and did a great job with the few opportunities Epping had at goal . Our defence was very sound with Sam being a rock in her position. They weren't getting passed Sam if she had anything to do with it.  Ballarat held the game play for virtually the whole second half but just couldn't find that much needed second goal to pick up the 3 points. Full time score: 1:1 Great game again girls,,you should all be really proud.
